President talked publicly of going after Hillary throughout his White House campaign; new suggestions of this are revealed now
President Donald Trump reportedly has brought up the notion of prosecuting his former election rival, Democrat Hillary Clinton, a few times since entering office.
Trump talked publicly about the idea throughout his campaign for the White House, and chants like “lock her up” took off among many supporters.
But that began to subside when he finally entered office.
Yet behind the scenes, that conversation apparently continued, and he even asked Department of Justice officials about it, according to reports.
The president raised the subject with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, according to a CNN report on Tuesday.
Trump also asked Matt Whitaker, who was serving as chief of staff to former Attorney General Jeff Sessions at the time, and is now the acting attorney general.
